About Me:
"You can only know true happiness after knowing true despair"
~ Alexander Dumas

I have loved photography since taking my first course in b/w darkroom work in college...became a serious amateur about 2 years ago.
A medical professional, I was stricken with a virus that destroyed my heart and nearly took my life.
I received a heart transplant Easter 2007 and have a second chance.
I am now able to spend time pursuing my passion and expressing the joy of life through my art. I try to pay attention to the small simple things we see each day and look at it until an idea forms. I can amuse myself for hours just in an airport, looking for an unusual structure, shadow,or line that attracts me.
I am pretty much self taught, but I did study fine Art Photography at the Boca Raton Museum Art School before we moved to Northern Florida.
My person mottos..."Anything is possible"
About My Art:
I shoot digital images...landscape to nature, botanical, color, black and white.
I find myself drawn towards abstract images that i make naturally.
I try to create and compose my images in the camera, and try different techniques to get the effect I have in my mind.

I am a bit of a purist. just minor tuning here and there.
I am a member of a local art league, and enjoy the collaboration of artists that use many mediums.
Favorite Music:
A wide variety depending on the mood I am in.
I love classical, jazz, blues, rock, new age, folk and new music.
If I like it, I like it. Always willing to hear something fresh.
Favorite Artists:
Ansel Adams,Georgia Okeefe, Josef Sudek, Robert Mapplethorpe,Dali, Degas,Monet, Picasso, and many more. I just know I like something when I see it. I cant' say I have one particular style as a favorite.

Ciao Debra, hope this mail finds you well. Once again, many thanks for your kind comments, always appreciated :-)

I was just wondering if you are familiar with Lester Hayes ? He's one of my all time favourite "abstract" photographers, and I'm sure you will find him inspiring. This is his interview on YouTube:-

Hi Debra, thanks so much for the lovely comment!! You're photography is beautiful, particulalry your flower/ plant photography such as 'ixora coccinea' which is incredible - all your work has such a beautiful contol of lighting, and I love the more abstract pieces such as 'urban dwellings' and 'rendezvous in space'.

Hi Deb, Thank you for your kind comments. I respect your critique and welcome any views you may have on my work.

I have also looked at your images on and there are many that I find inspirational and admire your purist approach.

Have you looked at the work of Minor White or read any of his writings? He is one who I have drawn on from time to time when considering what lies within me that reacts to what I see and how I translate what I am experiencing into an image. "...recognized an object or series of forms that, when photographed, would yield an image with specific suggestive powers that can direct the viewer into a specific and known feeling, state, or place within himself." Your 'Scenes from a stairwell' has this quality.
