Profile Information

About Me:

Trained graphic designer in the print trade for over 20 years, now working as graphics technician in a print workshop of an art college. Touching base and reopening the creative door to my old styles and loving it. Trying all kinds of print techniques with my graphic art style. Started life out as a photographic technician so I still love photography as well as art.

About My Art:

I try all styles - woodcut, screen printing, letterpress, monotype, linocut - freehand or photographic. Love Escher, Giger, Da Vinci, Mouse and Kelly, Warhol, Bailey, and many more.

Favorite Music:

Rock music mainly, old school stuff but I like killing Joke, Death in Vegas, Primal Scream, anything that's got a beat!

Favorite Films:

British 1960s films - Harry palmer stuff, Casino, Heat, Gladiator, 300, The Thing, old B/W stuff etc

Favorite Artists:

Escher, Giger, Da Vinci, Mouse and Kelly, Warhol, Bailey

Some new screen prints up if anyone is interested. Last ones for this year. Will be working on a large norwegian stamp and some bathroom print projects next year. All the best over the festive season.

It is interesting you mentioned process because that is the first thing that drew me to your page was the crossover between design and painting. It is encouraging to get feedback from teachers as I have never had any training. Two art teachers at Nottingham University that I met on artreview have praised my minimal work and pushed me to explore the minimal statement. So I push hard to integrate basic graphic designs and collages with abstract figures to get the interaction needed to 'capture the viewers attention'.

I have done several portrait sketches which all look relatively dull and so I rely on design idea quite alot. If you could share some of your concepts in design that would be fantastic. Let me look again at your work. Best from Luke ::)

Yes I did receive it and replied to you I hope you did receive that message - by the sound of it you didnt! I really love it. I have had it framed and its up on my dining room wall! ... of all places!! It just seems to go there... for now anyway . Have you heard of a site called redbubble.com .. this would be a great place to put 'grey pants' on :0) as people can order it up as a tshirt/card, print etc... and its all free to load - have you heard of it?

I feel awful that you did not see my message - perhaps if you look you will find it somewhere .. I had said something like... what a great surprise it was to receive it - it had really made my day. The gallery is 9 months old now and I cant believe I made it this far - I hope it can only get better and hopefully Ill start making just a little bit to be able to pay myself something!!.. one of these days
