Profile Information

About Me:

I am a self-taught artist with disabilities so I guess I come under the heading of Naive or Folk?
I loved art as a child in primary school and won 2 county awards at the ages of 10 and 11 years. My family moved homes several times throughout my remaining school years so I never had the opportunity to paint again.
On reaching adulthood, I would very occasionally sketch and draw cartoons for my son but nothing more than that.
Years passed by with the usual drudgery of daily life and hard work until 2007 when I was medically retired from work.
Back in 2001 I took a parachute jump and landed very badly. I never got or asked for medical help but over the years I found it more and more difficult to walk or sleep. I finally went for an X-Ray and found out I have a fused fracture of the spine and many other spinal problems.
My 1st year of retirement was spent falling into depression and total boredom. Then a minor miracle happened.
It was the Christmas of 2007 that my husband suprised me with an art set! It was like opening a huge box of wonderous treasure! It took my breath away and I still feel the same today.
I began my 1st painting right away. I didnt have to scour my brain for inspiration, I just painted what I didnt finish when I was at school more than 40 years ago!
There was no stopping me now...Idea after idea..so many ideas I had to start writing these ideas down before I forgot them all.
I have a long ways to go yet and am still experimenting with different media but, I do love to work with Acrylics.
People are always asking me where I get my ideas from. I dont know...ideas just crop up, or I dream odd things, I see something on TV and think to myself..'I could do that!'
I have recently joined an artists forum and that has helped me so much to learn and experiment and not be afraid to try new new things, To be me and USE my mind.

I am a naive artist and my work leans towards surrealism.

I love just about every kind of music except Jazz, Hip Hop and Rap!

Do not have time to watch movies anymore.

Favorite Artists:

Too many to mention but Dali and Beryl Cook are amongst my favourites. More of my favourite artists in my website.
