About My Art:
PRESS RELEASES:
"Multi-talented artist Hubert Cance has an astounding range of work, from fanciful illustrations of knights and medieval machinery to mystical, beautifully crafted paintings. Born in Aurillac, France, Cance’s youthful imagination was stimulated by growing up in a house filled with books on local history, folk stories and classical culture. Following his military service, Cance worked as a freelance pattern designer for a variety of scale-modeling firms, a position that strengthened his technical skills. His concise illustrative work has been published in numerous books and periodicals from England to Japan. Cance’s attention to detail is a dominant force in his paintings that is rivaled only by his boundless imagination. His audience will revel in Cance’s imaginings, a world of elemental spirits, ancient forests, and epic battles. Cance is adept at capturing more delicate moments as well, such as in his landscapes of flowing pine trees or the still waters of Venice cloaked in moonlight. Hubert Cance lives and works in France."

(ArtMine)

"Hubert Cance is an artist with a draftsman's hand and eye. His work ranges from fantasy explorations of the worlds of mysticism and shamanism to highly formalized aviation drawings and mechanical representations. The most recognizable aspect of Cance's art is the way he applies the strict tenets of mechanical design to drawings of machines, warriors, and scenes that exist only in his amazing imagination. Cance is equally at home depicting realistically drawn soldiers and military paraphernalia as soft pine tree landscapes. With a unique mix of Asian style and Gaelic culture Cance creates windows that communicate another way of viewing the world and understanding nature. His "Felementale" drawing series is the artist's interpretation of the essential spirits of the earth in gentle, feminine forms. Hubert Cance was born in Aurillac, in the Auvergne Valley region of France. The area, with its medieval fortifications and castles, has left an indelible mark on the artist's vision."

An house in my dreams!

I don't know if this is common or not, but there is an house that is regularly invading my dreams...

What I know is the way to go to this house, but not where it is... Aaaargh!. Well it is in a valley that is open to the west and with west-east crests. This is on the north oriented side and the road is going , through a pine trees forest from villages on the river side to a pass on the east... At the deepest of the woods, near to the crest, there is a small road, at right that looks to disappea… Continue

Dear Hubert - that is quite an impressive track record of events you have.

What I was getting at in my post in the galleries group is a simple concept. People who buy art like to hear dialogue. They want words like 'this painting was previously owned by' and 'this piece is based on a concept'. It looks like you have sold a lot more art than I have as I have sold only 60 works in total. But like you I don't like talking to people about the images - I just want them to look and then buy them.

What I have learned at shows is to explain that the images are part of a larger dialogue that is intened to engage the viewer in a conversation, What happens is you introduce images in this way and very quickly the viewer gets excited and soon wants to stop talking and start 'viewing' but the introduction helps them and the will appreciate you for it.

Only posting this because an art dealer taught it to me and it actually helped increase my sales. Best always from Luke ::)
