Auction

Yesterday one of my collectors informed me that he had put his collection up for sale at Plymouth Auction Rooms on November 18th. Yes I am excited about the prospect, but I am also concerned. With the former, it’s always a nice feeling seeing my old work; but with regard to the latter, my old work does make me occasionally cringe! I am of course not the only painter to feel like this, Turner was constantly purchasing his old works and repainting them. Retouching my old sold work is not something… Continue

Collaborations with a fellow practitioner

Life can be so unpredictable, but as thee seek, so thee find; usually the outcome I find is not rewarding! However, just occasionally something challenging and rewarding comes along. I have for some time now actively searched for a fellow practitioner to collaborate and bounce ideas with; an individual whose mind-set possesses a love of intellectual enquiry similar to me. A craftsman whose practical skills complements my own, and an artist whose visionary artistic quest explores new approaches t… Continue

Julian's Birthday portrait

For the last week or two, I have been preparing a work for Julian's birthday party bash on the 28th of March this year. Being Julian's 60th, we both felt that it need something special - and as the 'Fool' with Plymouth Morris Men and The Wreakers (a mixed Morris side) he is larger than life!

Music

I have just uploaded a score written by the Plymouth based composer Paul Lloyd. This score was commissioned by Jojo, for his play The Man in the Red Scarf. The selection I have chosen is the love sequence and accompanies the CCB's drawings I made while painter in residence on the production.

“I want … !”

Now why I should think of this title, I just do not know. It could be because I felt cold in bed last night. Or perhaps it was my subconscious working over-time; and the cold environment induced the idea of poor Ophelia freezing. Now this sentence has stimulated my mind enough… Continue

Dear David,

I am sorry! I am afraid you got the wrong answer for your questions...

My untitled comp. of flowers- I love flowers, and I have a great respect for Euclydes - it could be that I was unconsciously (?) a llittle influenced by the Renaissance Geometry...

In my mind I concentrated in their beauty delicacy intelligence (and mimic if I am allowedto use the word)...

Best regards, mjf

Dear David, thank you for the kind comments!

About my chaos I really do not like to comment my work :-) but I will give it a try.

I wanted to paint chaos. At some point as I was rehearsing and studying I though what was in the beginning? We all know that in the beginning was the word and I said that is it, if you want chaos what could be more eloquent than the word chaos itself?...

I tried to subtly imply some very strong figures of the (e.g. Genesis) and of the Big Bang theory in a ludic way without criticizing (or influence) or wanting to get answers – Just a painting (an open question)…

Thank you for your interest!

Kind regards, mjf

Hello David,

This is a new site, and yes all of the work on the site is copyright to the artists, all paperwork and forms are available including certification on limited editions, no work is shown without the full agreement of the artists, and work cannot be copied from the site. The site will be limited to 100 artists and this will allow concentration by me and my team.
I am very excited about this site and as I have in the past lost through fraudulent use of my work, I am out to make sure it does not happen to anyone on my site.

Kindest

Peter
In the future members will be able to talk to each other.
And the Rydell Gallery will become "virtual".

David, your accidental tryptich won 'Artwork of the Week' today - see right hand column of the home page. It will be up for two weeks so you have enough time to share your success with others. Just send then to b-uncut.com.

And congratulations. I hope this encourages you further to do something with the extremely original work.
