Other than mobile galleries, with the general down-turn in the economy, it's becoming quite popular for curators to rent space on a short-term basis, and simply move around as space becomes available. I think this offers quite substantial cost savings in comparison to the fixed overheads of a permanent gallery space, so perhaps something that more curators should be encouraged to consider. It's especially popular in NYC at this moment.

In an article in Modern Painter magazine, photo of founder of KiptonArt , a site about connecting artists and collectors:

"Join our community of over 700 artists and gain enhanced visibility, sell and exhibit your work. Upon registration, you will be classified in one of three tiers and will have the chance to compete for exhibit opportunities around the U.S. Past events and exhibitions have taken place in partnership with Van Cleef & Arpels, Soho House New York, W Hotel Times Square, Diesel, Chelsea Art Museum, private residences and exclusive spaces."

I read about the founder of Artlog http://www.artlog,com in an article in Modern Painter mag
I joined the site, and it seems to be mostly art news--many newsletters--rather than another social media site...

The "self organized" galleries on occasion have opportunities for surrounding artists but not often. It would be nice to have better access to show. The idea of a mobile gallery is a interesting idea. I like it.

just an example of perhaps what to look for--ops that can be adjusted to our group needs--if we wanted to create a project and also support or add to what kara and her crew are already doing to promote...

interesting discussion--yes, a little brainstorming (without pre-judgement) may yield some seed of an idea to pursue and expand upon...

*I agree w/Claudie about the co-op galleries--they are seldom good galleries)

There have been some very interesting mobile art projects --some ongoing, some short term--that I've read about--

Be an the alert for info and ideas--do some digging--
