Where Artists Gather - And Art Breaks

Now that b-uncut has been live to the public for around 6 months I think it is the right time to get your thoughts on it. What do you like about b-uncut? How are you using the site? And what would you like to add/change at b-uncut.

Phillip I am so new to this, I have never bogged before etc. But something seems so right about this sight. I am beginning to share my thoughts and feel freer than I have in many years. Living in up State New York has it limits and I feel secluded very much. B-UNCUT has opened a large door. Other sites Artist Space etc does not give you the ability to converse back and forth with other struggling or successful artists from around the world! You can’t really communicate with others and to me this has been very inspiring. Thank you, thank you… For you generosity, thoughtfulness, expertise and love of art.

Now said can we have portfolios that are separate from our slideshow. I would like to show different things that I do (photography) but do not want it mixed up with my “artwork”. I put up some of my nude drawings but that is just scales, I am proud of them but do not want to confuse people, these are part of the process that someone if they wanted to could get to know me better.
But If I could help in anyway let me know.

Wren, thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. We always wanted b-uncut to be first and foremost a place where artists could share their ideas, art, perspectives and meet co-artists from anywhere in the world. Otherwise we are all isolated. The more artists that join - the more friends we can each make and the more likely it is we find common spirits and interests. One giant, virtual artist commune.

Regarding organizing your art into portfolios at b-uncut - for now you can do that by setting up 'albums'. Each 'album' should be a themed portfolio. Go to the 'Photos' tab/section - then load all your images and hit the 'albums' link (at the top of the page) and go from there. See if this does the trick for you.

Hi Philip

I love the interaction, the ease of use and being able to see who else is on line and have a chat. It can be lonely being an artist but knowing that whatever the time there is someone there to say hello to or share ideas is really great.
I have no problems in recommending this site to everyone.

Thanks, Lavinia. Comments taken on board and appreciated.

Thanks for bring up being lonely as an artist Lavina. I have been feeling that for a long time but more pressing now. I am mostly self taught and do not have a University degree. Though I did audit a lot of classes from our state university at Albany , NY. But there is not a large "scene" here. Studio visits do not happen much. But when you are creating you are alone and for some time this has bothered me more now then ever before.

Wren, you are not alone. b-uncut artists love your work and friendly demeanor. You are very talented.

Dump the purple against the black background. It's very difficult to read. Use contrasting colors instead.

um I think the purple is okay. Let us just be grateful that Philip made and designed this site for us.

I LOVE PURPLE. Its a colour I use as it is a pigment only, this is not really purple as it has loads of white in it and is probably 'violet' as purple does not exist in the light spectrum. Sorry to much information there!
I just want to say I like the 'purple' and black. I bulked at it at first as a lingerie deal, yet I have got comfortable with it now. Its cosy to me!
I have found that one can change ones own page colours very easily also!

I also have never blogged or been in a chat room before. I'm typically a quiet person and I think that I spend too much time worrying about what I'm going to say, so I always end up just reading what everybody else has written. I am enjoying seeing all the great artwork and learning about other artists.
Thank you Philip for creating this site. Maybe I will learn to not be so shy.
